Jacky Chan

CEO

Jacky Chan is the visionary and driving force behind Vancouver’s BakerWest team. He is responsible for leading all client relationships and is directly involved in the strategies that drive the sales and marketing of each development.

Jacky has handled thousands of new construction and resale transactions, which have a cumulative dollar value in the billions. Speaking Cantonese, Mandarin and English fluently, Jacky was raised in Hong Kong and comes from a family with over 70 years of international business and real estate pedigree. His travels, global network and broad business acumen have earned him a reputation as a top international real estate expert. His merit comes from the unmatched values and results he brings to his team and clients.

Prior to becoming the CEO of BakerWest, he was the Founder of Optimum Marketing Group (OMG Projects), a pre-construction sales and marketing company in Western Canada. Jacky also served as a Partner and CEO at Park Georgia Realty, which boasts 1,500 agents, and held the record for the highest sales volume and number of transactions in all of Vancouver at its height.

Barbara Lawlor

Executive Director

As Executive Director, Barbara is the driving force behind Baker, opening new offices and leading major sales and marketing campaigns for the company in North America and International real estate markets.

She joined Baker the week we were founded in 1993, and has been instrumental in realizing our vision ever since. Her passion, determination and steady hand has inspired our team to help sell over $80 billion in new home sales, and make her the prominent female voice in the industry.

Her achievements have been recognized by the industry across the country. Barbara was a honoree at the BISNOW Toronto Power Women, and a panelist at the Key Media International Conference. She is a past recipient of the prestigious Riley Brethour Award by BILD, which recognizes her outstanding and consistent achievement in residential sales and marketing, while exhibiting exemplary leadership skills. Barbara is a Registered Real Estate Broker and a Fellow of The Real Estate Institute of Canada.

A thought leader in Canada and beyond, Barbara continues to write weekly columns for various publications and blogs, forging her reputation as The Condo Pro. Her charismatic style and tremendous knowledge make her a highly sought-after seminar speaker and a respected and impactful industry voice.

Hari Minhas

President

Hari brings over 20 years of experience to his role as President at BakerWest. His expertise lies in project sales and marketing in both commercial and residential real estate, with experience locally and internationally. He oversees the sales and marketing operations at BakerWest and is directly engaged in strategy for all projects to ensure the highest degree of client success.

Hari has sold luxury real estate throughout the world and has earned status as a top real estate sales professional. His experience has extended to sales and marketing, where he has demonstrated his ability to build out top teams, and he has been instrumental in shaping the way commercial real estate is marketed in Canada.

Prior to joining BakerWest, Hari had a successful real estate consulting business where he created and managed developers’ sales, leasing and marketing strategies. Previously, Hari worked at Colliers International in Vancouver as National Director, Landlord Advisory as well as Director, Marketing and Research for Western Canada.

Melissa Lui

Director, Business & Project Operations

Melissa is the operational backbone at BakerWest, responsible for maintaining and enhancing the core business operations, policies, systems and standards. She also leads the project administration and operations resources at all project sites. Melissa’s value extends beyond operations, with a background in real estate sales. Over the past five years, she has developed significant relationships with a wide client base and an intuition for the market.

Prior to joining BakerWest, Melissa was a founding team member of Optimum Marketing Group (OMG Projects). She was Jacky Chan’s first hire, serving as Executive Assistant and contributed to the firm’s growth from the very beginning, with many of BakerWest’s achievements attributable to her.

Bob Styan

Senior Vice President, Sales

Bob is responsible for managing the sales team, creating sales training programs and developing sales strategies for BakerWest. An expert in his field, Bob helped pioneer pre-selling in Vancouver and has worked throughout North America and has sold, managed or lead sales teams at over 40 residential and resort properties valued at over of $10 billion dollars in sales. His experience selling and managing complex resorts and luxury real estate properties has taken him to Whistler, Mexico and the US, including Hawaii.

Bob brings nearly 30 years of real estate expertise to BakerWest, including his most recent post at S&P Real Estate Corp. He has worked with large developers across North America including Westbank, Intrawest and Bosa Developments and Properties. Bob’s work extends to branded Westin and Auberge Resorts, and master-planned communities such as Snowmass Base Village in Colorado and Pacific Gate in San Diego.

While Bob has experience in many regions, his deepest area of expertise lies in west coast real estate. He was instrumental in building and training the sales teams of Vancouver House and Butterfly, and he is currently leading sales at BakerWest for the tallest Passive House building in the world.

Rose Chan

Vice President, Sales

Rose brings nearly 15 years’ experience to BakerWest, alongside a sterling reputation in real estate sales. Rose began her career at Polygon Homes before she was recruited to Magnum Projects by its principal. She was recognized as an elite sales leadership and management resource at Concord Pacific. During her tenure there, she was responsible for managing Concord Pacific’s sales launches and curating and building the Concord Platinum Elite Realtor Program.

In her years of experience, Rose has launched more than 35 concrete highrise developments, leading to more than 15,000 property transactions under her belt.

Sarah Yada Seto

Vice President, Marketing

Sarah oversees all aspects of marketing at BakerWest. She leads the marketing team to ensure each project tells a story that lives up to its unique offering and that it achieves the highest degree of visibility with its target audience.

Sarah began her career 25 years ago, assisting Ian Gillespie and prolific Westbank Developments, the developer responsible for successes including The Butterfly, Shangri-La Vancouver, Fairmont Pacific Rim, and the $10+ Billion Oakridge Centre Development. Sarah has been engaged in major developments throughout Canada and the US including Deloitte Summit in Vancouver, Telus Sky in Calgary, First Light in Seattle, and King Toronto. She was also an early staff member of Rennie Marketing Systems where she worked alongside “The Condo King,” Bob Rennie, for 12 years. She previously held management roles for Bosa Properties and BC Hydro, and has consulted for a variety of organizations including Passive House Canada and the Vancouver Chinatown Foundation.

Scott Brown

Executive Director

Scott brings more than three decades of experience to BakerWest, where he applies his track record of developing high-performing, high-growth companies to Baker West’s developer partner / clients’ success. In his capacity as Executive Director, Scott supports the business strategically and operationally as an active business, people development, and project and partner advisor. Scott directly oversees the marketing and sales teams responsible for delivering sales success and developer satisfaction. He also manages the relationship with BakerWest’s capital and operating partner, Peerage Realty, while providing insight to Peerage’s companies throughout BC.

Throughout his career, Scott has formed and led teams that have set sales records throughout North America and Asia. He has consistently provided high-quality strategic advisory services to leading global organizations and continues to expand his expertise in marketing and sales strategy, culture development and performance enhancement.
